Not quite raw, organic vegetable juice but people in the Phillipines love smoothies and that's a great start:

Aside from coffee, one drink we love, especially on hot summer days, is the smoothie. And today, there are juice bars all around the city that promote health benefits. And because they're made from fruits and vegetables, we're sure they're really healthy. Sure, we may just be in it for the taste, but it's good to know that they are helping our body one way or the other. But do read this and customize your next drink according to your nutrition needs. Mix it up, add yogurt, use non-fat milk but remember the key ingredients that you need to maximize the potential of your shake.

1. Cleansing - Blend one part ginger with three parts apple and three parts carrots. This revitalizes the body and flushes out toxins. And as an added bonus, it also helps make your skin glow.

2. Anti-cholesterol - Blend one part each of cucumber and celery with two parts apple to make a surefire cholesterol-lowering shake. Highly recommended for anyone with heart ailments and even those who don't have any but have a family history of heart-related conditions.

3. Anti-bad breath - Blend two parts each of green apple and carrot with one part tomato for an instant "mouthwash"! And since you're actually drinking it, it's not limited to just the mouth. It cleans the digestive track and combats the odor from the inside out. Again, as a bonus, this combo's great for the skin.

4. Heat management - Blend one part bitter gourd with two parts apple, add milk and you've got a formula that helps you lower your internal body heat. This is extremely helpful as it will immediately provide comfort when you are on the brink of a fever.

5. Skin - Blend four parts each of orange and cucumber with one part ginger. This helps improve the texture, moisture and hydration of the skin, thus, giving it a healthy glow from the inside. It's especially needed during the cooler season when the skin tends to be dryer.

6. Salt control - Blend one part each of apple, watermelon and pineapple and you're on your way to healthy kidneys and bladder. Regular intake is good for the urinary track and will help you flush out excess salt.

7. Daily supplement - Blend one part each of watermelon, honeydew and grapes and add a generous serving of milk. This is great for both kids and adult as a daily supplement because it contains loads of essential vitamins. It boosts the immune system and aids in cell regeneration.

8. Sugar control - Blend three parts pear with two parts banana and you've got the many benefits in one drink. Helping you regulate your sugar level is one, but it also helps fight ulcers, constipation and a host of other discomforts. And it helps give you a happier disposition because of serotonin.

9. Antioxidant - Blend two parts each of carrot, apple and pear with three parts mango and toxins are on their way out. We all know how important antioxidants are to the body and skin. So this highly effective concoction is one you will find useful for many, many years.

10. System management - Blend one part pineapple with one part grapes and you've got three things going on: something that's good for the heart, something that's anti-inflammatory and something that's good for the digestive track. Having this after meals help improve digestion.
